Homepage definitions |
 |
A Homepage definition holds the customisations that a user makes to his Homepage.
A user customises their Homepage by clicking the Customise button. This invokes the Homepage Editor where the user can rearrange their Homepage layout and may be permitted to modify some frame settings. The user's Homepage definition is created automatically once he has customised his Homepage.
If the CODA-Portal administrator makes any changes to a Homepage template that is assigned to users, the users' Homepage definitions may be affected. For example:
- When a content provider master is added to the Homepage template, the user is able to add a frame to their Homepage to contain the new content provider.
- When a content provider is removed from the Homepage template, if the user has a frame associated with that content provider it is removed from the user's Homepage.
- When a content provider is modified in the Homepage template, the modifications are reflected in the user's Homepage unless the user has modified that frame, in which case the user's modifications remain in effect.
- When a frame is added to the Homepage template, it is added to the user's Homepage definition. The system attempts to maintain the relative position of the frames in the user's Homepage definition.
- When a frame is removed from the Homepage template, it is removed from the user's Homepage definition.

When a user customises his Homepage, he may not add frames with content providers other than those linked to the underlying Homepage template. |
